About this holiday
This day commemorates the 10-week conflict (the Falklands War) between Argentina and the United Kingdom over the Falkland Islands and South Georgia in 1982. The conflict began with Argentina's occupation of the islands on April 2, 1982, and concluded with an Argentine surrender on June 14, 1982. The war resulted in fatalities on both sides.
