Brazilian culture is a blend of European, African, Asian, and indigenous influences.

• The country hosts 13 national holidays, including New Year's Day, Good Friday, Tiradentes, and the movable Carnaval (usually marked by celebrations starting days before and ending on Ash Wednesday).
• Cultural greetings vary greatly; be mindful of cheek-kissing (common among women and between women and men) and handshakes. Be prepared for direct conversation and frequent social interactions in public spaces. Punctuality is flexible for social engagements (expect arrivals 10-15 minutes late), but rigid for business meetings, concerts, and airport departures. Public displays of affection are generally acceptable in major cities, though smaller towns may be more conservative. Avoid all forms of racism and avoid making assumptions about people’s personal political or religious beliefs.
