• Alcohol is restricted in certain locations, such as football stadiums.
• Brazilians are generally highly communicative and welcoming, but diplomacy is advised. Time is casual for social appointments (expect 10-15 minutes of delay), but punctuality is required for work and public transport/events. Racism is a serious criminal offense. Although family is central to culture, foreign criticism of the government should be approached with caution. When greeting, cheek-kissing is common among women and sometimes between men (observe local customs).
