📣 Notas para viajeros

Argentina is a geographically diverse country in southern South America, featuring landscapes that range from northern jungles to central plains and southern mountains.

  • January 1: New Year's Day
  • March 24: Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice
  • April 2: Malvinas Day
  • May 25: Day of the First National Government
  • June 17: Anniversary of the death of Martín Miguel de Güemes
  • Argentines are generally expressive communicators. They may be inquisitive and direct, frequently asking personal questions—which is considered normal and is often reciprocated. Passionate public conversations may involve interrupting or raising voices, which should not be taken as conflict. Greeting customs include cheek kissing (usually one or two light kisses on the right/left cheek for those you know) in cities, while handshakes are more common outside urban areas. Regarding punctuality, a flexible approach to time is common for social events, but punctuality is expected for business meetings. Travelers should approach sensitive topics like the Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas), UK symbols, or domestic politics with caution or avoid them altogether.

Sobre este día festivo

Selk'Nam Genocide Day marks the systematic extermination of the Selkʼnam people, one of the four indigenous groups of Tierra del Fuego, which occurred in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The genocide led to a decline in the Selkʼnam population from an estimated 4,000 in the 1880s to only a few hundred by the early 1900s.
