• Carnival festivities (pre-Lent) are traditionally held in the Southern Netherlands (e.g., Maastricht).
• King's Day (April 27th) is a major national celebration; wearing orange is common.
• Cycling is a core cultural activity. Cyclists have precedence, and staying on cycle paths is mandatory.
• Due to its sensitivity, travelers should avoid referring to the entire country as 'Holland' (the name refers only to two provinces).
• Dutch people value honesty and straightforward communication. Directness, while potentially surprising, is not meant to be offensive. Visitors are expected to treat service staff with equality. Publicly displaying excessive wealth or asking about personal finances is considered vulgar.
