Colombia is located in the northwest corner of South America. The country features diverse landscapes, including Caribbean and Pacific coasts, mountains, and Amazon jungle areas, and is roughly twice the size of France.

• Use respectful greetings and formal language, especially in regional areas.
• Be aware that informal or humorous remarks regarding race may occasionally occur and are typically not intended to be offensive.
• Public displays of affection should be kept to a minimum.
• Nightlife frequently revolves around dancing and celebration.
• When pointing, use the chin or lips rather than fingers.
• Same-sex marriage has been legal in Colombia since April 2016.
• Polite and formal interactions are recommended. Use 'please' and 'thank you.' When discussing history or politics, exercise caution regarding past violence. Instead of pointing with fingers, use chin or lip gestures, as this is preferred. While the culture is often celebratory, public displays of affection should be kept minimal.
