📣 Conseils aux voyageurs
Cuba is a large Caribbean island featuring nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, colonial architecture, and a diverse culture. The country has been governed by a communist regime since the 1959 Cuban Revolution and remains subject to a US embargo.
- January 1: Triumph of the Revolution
- January 2: Victory of the Armed Forces Day
- Good Friday: Variable date
- May 1: Labour Day
- July 25: Commemoration of the Assault of the Moncada Garrison
- Cuban culture is generally courteous and direct. Avoid political discussions or inquiries into local politics, as this can make locals uncomfortable. Supporting local economies by staying in *casas particulares*, eating in *paladares*, or shopping from street vendors is encouraged. Note that local vendors may view tourists as sources of goods and may ask for products that are difficult to acquire.
À propos de ce jour férié
The Triumph of the Revolution commemorates two events: the flight of Fulgencio Batista on January 1, 1959, and the capture of Havana by the 26 July Movement on January 8.
