• Banks, shops, and businesses may close on specified Egyptian national holidays (including January 25th and other civil/religious dates).
• Public transport services may be limited on holidays.
• Egyptians are generally friendly and welcoming. To maintain good relations, public displays of affection are discouraged. Use the local Islamic greeting, 'es-salāmu-`alēku' (peace be upon you), when addressing people. Dress conservatively, especially for women, by covering arms and legs. Always remove shoes before entering a mosque. Be sensitive when discussing religion or politics, and always ask permission before photographing people.
