Guernsey is a major island in the Channel Islands, located in the English Channel. It is approximately 6 miles long and 3 miles wide, with St Peter Port as the primary settlement. (Population was nearly 63,000 in 2019).

It is a public holiday in both Guernsey and Jersey.
Expect local celebrations, such as a re-enactment or vehicle cavalcade.
The holiday serves as a commemoration of the end of German occupation.
The day is also celebrated as Europe Day.
Do not refer to the UK as "the mainland" when in Guernsey.
