📣 Conseils aux voyageurs
Italy is a cradle of Western culture and the Roman Empire, known for its substantial collection of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, high art, and historical monuments.
- January 1 (Capodanno) for New Year's Day.
- January 6 (Epifania) for Epiphany.
- Easter (Pasqua) and Easter Monday (Pasquetta) in March or April.
- April 25 (la Festa della Liberazione) for Liberation Day.
- When dining, follow standard European table manners. For coffee, only order cappuccino at breakfast; consider a macchiato at other times. Be mindful of local cuisine; praising food is expected, and criticizing it or offering cooking advice is considered rude. Meals can be long, so take your time. When entering a restaurant, greet staff with 'buongiorno' or 'buonasera' and wait to be seated at formal establishments.
À propos de ce jour férié
Saint Justus's Day commemorates Justus, the fourth archbishop of Canterbury. He was sent from Italy by Pope Gregory the Great to England to Christianize the Anglo-Saxons. Justus became the first bishop of Rochester in 604 and was known for encouraging the local Celtic church to adopt the Roman Easter calculation. He also attended a church council in Paris in 614.
