Lithuania is a Baltic state in northeast Europe, covering about 65,300 sq km. It is bordered by Latvia, Belarus, Poland, the Baltic Sea, and Kaliningrad. Since regaining independence in 1990, Lithuania has maintained its status as one of the three Baltic states. As of 2025, the population was estimated at 2.9 million.

• Restitution of Independence (Mar 11): Marks the restoration of independence from the Soviet Union.
• St John's Day (Jun 24): A midsummer celebration with historical ties to pagan traditions.

• While Vilnius is cosmopolitan, surrounding areas retain traditional and conservative cultural elements. Catholicism is the main religion, though Lutheran and Orthodox populations are also present. Lithuanian national symbols and identity are highly valued.
