Lithuania is an agricultural Baltic state in northeast Europe, bordering Latvia, Belarus, Poland, and the Baltic Sea. The country has a population of approximately 2.9 million and covers about 65,300 sq km. Lithuania regained independence from the Soviet Union in 1990.
