📣 Conseils aux voyageurs

Mexico is a country rich in culture, history, and nature, offering diverse attractions including archeology, cuisine, architecture, and 9,600 km of coastline. It is noted for significant economic growth and improving infrastructure. Travel across the country provides varied weather, from mountainous regions to tropical jungles and deserts.

  • Government offices are nationwide closed on official holidays and election days. The actual day off may shift to the Monday preceding the holiday, so check a current calendar.
  • Be patient, as a relaxed sense of time is common. When someone sneezes, it is considered polite to say "¡salud!" (bless you!). When entering churches, remove sunglasses, hats, or caps, and it is advised to wear a sweater or sweatshirt to cover the waist. Showing a bribe to an official is considered disrespectful and may cause problems.

À propos de ce jour férié

Mexico celebrates the start of its War of Independence on September 15 and the holiday on September 16. This date marks the beginning of the struggle against the Spanish Empire in 1810, initiated when Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla called for rebellion. Celebrations include traditional Grito ceremonies at the National Palace, along with music and local food.
