When engaging in conversation, initiating dialogue is advisable, and asking locals for directions often prompts them to offer more assistance. When attending Māori cultural events, respect is paramount; observe the customs regarding head touching, eating, and shoes within ceremonial spaces (wharenui). Be aware of restricted areas (Tapu) or temporary bans (Rāhui) and respect any local signage or guidelines.
