📣 Conseils aux voyageurs
Paraguay is a small central South American country featuring large rivers, green landscapes, colonial history, and a blend of European and indigenous cultures. Visitors can experience environments ranging from vast wilderness and colonial missions.
- Areté Guazú: A three-day indigenous celebration held between February and March in various locations.
- Expo Rodeo Trébol: The largest expo and rodeo event in the Chaco region, typically held mid-August.
- Transchaco rally: A major sports event in the Central Chaco Region, usually held in late September.
- Paraguayans are generally friendly and relaxed. Allow 10-20 minutes for appointments, as punctuality expectations are low, and public transport may be unreliable. It is polite to inquire about the country and its culture when meeting strangers. Avoid criticizing the country's government or politics. In rural areas, clap outside the gate rather than using a doorbell.
À propos de ce jour férié
The Chaco War (1932-1935) was a conflict fought between Bolivia and Paraguay over the Gran Chaco region, reportedly rich in petroleum. Also known as La Guerra de la Sed, it was noted as an early 20th-century conflict in South America to utilize modern weaponry and was one of the region's most violent wars.
