📣 Conseils aux voyageurs

Spain is known for its welcoming atmosphere, diverse cuisine, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural heritage. It boasts an extensive number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is recognized as a safe destination with a high level of tolerance for LGBTQ+ travelers.

  • Eat 12 grapes at midnight on New Year's Eve (Nochevieja).
  • Follow the 'las campanadas' chimes from Puerta del Sol in Madrid.
  • Experience a fireworks display following the New Year's chimes.
  • Avoid sensitive topics like regional independence or the monarchy.
  • Be mindful of local cultural nuances regarding bullfighting and historical figures.
  • Expect diverse linguistic landscapes, such as Catalan in certain regions.
  • Spaniards are generally friendly and comfortable with physical contact during conversation. While social interactions can be informal—including the use of light insults among friends—it is best for foreigners to remain polite. When dining, it is customary to wait until everyone is seated before eating and to stay at the table until everyone has finished. When offered a gift or drink, it is polite to decline once before accepting. Note that while some regions are more relaxed with punctuality, being on time is always appreciated.
