📣 Conseils aux voyageurs

Vietnam is a rapidly developing Southeast Asian country with a wealth of cultural and natural attractions. While less developed for tourism than some neighbors, it is undergoing significant economic growth driven by its young population.

  • Major holidays, such as Tết (Lunar New Year), cause widespread travel and closures, significantly limiting services and transportation.
  • Temperatures and crowd levels can be high during national holidays (e.g., Vietnam's National Day, King Hung celebration), so book accommodations and transport far in advance.
  • Public celebrations and market decorations are common during major festivals, especially in cities.
  • Most religious sites (temples, pagodas) require visitors to dress respectfully and remove their shoes.
  • While public life is generally festive, many family activities and holidays remain private, centered around visiting relatives.
  • Some local questions about age and marital status are common and generally considered normal, good-natured exchanges.
  • Display deference and politeness toward elders. Dress modestly and conservatively, covering shoulders and knees, especially when visiting temples. Remove shoes before entering private homes or religious sites. When exchanging business cards, always use both hands. Avoid public displays of affection and sensitive political discussions (such as those involving China or the South China Sea).
