Vietnam is a rapidly developing Southeast Asian country known for its natural and cultural attractions. Though less developed for tourism than some neighbors, it boasts a vibrant culture and excellent cuisine. Visitors should be aware of local customs regarding respectful dress and communication.

• Major holidays, such as Tết (Lunar New Year), significantly disrupt travel plans, leading to limited local services, closures, and transportation shortages. Booking accommodations and transport well in advance is essential.
• During national holidays (e.g., September 2nd), transportation and accommodations can be heavily booked or affected.
• Religious sites (temples and pagodas) often require travelers to dress modestly, covering shoulders and knees, and removing shoes before entry.
• Due to cultural reverence, do not engage in conversations that could be perceived as insulting to the sacrifices made during past conflicts.
• When interacting with locals, be prepared for personal, yet generally benign, questions regarding age, marital status, and family size.
• Respect for elders is highly valued, and demonstrating politeness and deference is advisable.
• Always remove your shoes before entering homes or temples. Public displays of affection are generally inappropriate. When receiving or giving business cards, use both hands. Be mindful of cultural sensitivities regarding political discussions (especially concerning China or the South China Sea) and historical conflicts.
