(or "Jesús te bendiga" in rural areas) is considered necessary to avoid offense. When visiting churches, remove sunglasses, hats, and keep arms covered. Use the formal 'usted' when addressing authorities and unfamiliar persons, reserving 'tú' for close friends or children.
