- Show respect to elders and figures of authority. When greeting elders in non-Igbo villages, observe local greetings (e.g., bending or kneeling for women, prostrating for men). Always confirm visits to homes in northern, Muslim regions beforehand and wait to be admitted. Avoid giving items or passing things with your left hand, as this is considered insulting. Do not cross or jump over extended people's legs.
