About this holiday
The Battle of Angamos, fought on October 8, 1879, was a naval engagement during the War of the Pacific between the navies of Chile and Peru at Punta Angamos. The battle culminated a five-month campaign aimed at neutralizing Peruvian forces, resulting in the capture of the Peruvian monitor Huáscar, commanded by Rear Admiral Miguel Grau Seminario.
