• When visiting churches, dress modestly (avoid shorts, miniskirts, or sleeveless tops).
• Be prepared for staring; it usually indicates curiosity, not hostility.
• Understand that family ties and community matters are highly valued.
• Engage in small talk before discussing serious topics.
• Exercise caution when discussing the Armenian Genocide or the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and avoid mentioning Turkey.
• Be attentive to guests, even if their arrival is unexpected.
• Show respect for women and practice gentlemanly courtesy when interacting with men. Always yield seats to elders. When visiting homes, bring a small gift, and accept hospitality (even if it involves food) without outright refusal.
