The Melbourne Cup is an annual Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race held at the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne. Organized by the Victoria Racing Club as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, it is a 3200-metre handicap race for horses three years old and older, and traditionally takes place on the first Tuesday of November.
