• When dining, use chopsticks for Chinese meals, but Western cutlery is available in Western restaurants. Avoid placing chopsticks upright in rice (it is considered bad luck). Do not use chopsticks to move dishes or make excessive noise. To show thanks when receiving tea, tap the table with two or three fingers. If you need a refill, leave the pot lid open. Some restaurants may provide a bowl for rinsing utensils with hot tea.
