📣 Traveler notes
Sweden, the largest Nordic country by area, offers visitors diverse experiences, including deep forests, numerous lakes, Viking Age heritage, and the Nobel Prize glamour. The country also features a successful pop music scene and 270,000 islands, many accessible via the 'right to roam'.
- Respect for secularism and anti-discrimination laws is high.
- Drug possession and intoxication (including cannabis) are illegal and subject to fines.
- Public nudity is generally restricted to designated beaches.
- Maintaining personal space and social order is expected in daily life.
- Approach cultural topics (e.g., politics, finances) with sensitivity and open-ended questions.
- Remove shoes when entering most homes. Hugging is common between friends/relatives; cheek-kissing is not. Arrive on time for meetings and meals. Respect personal space, and remember to call for attention from service staff. Use numbered queue slips for organized queuing.
About this holiday
The Pentecostal Movement in Sweden includes various groups, such as the Pentecostal Alliance of Independent Churches (established 2001). The movement arrived in Sweden by 1907, expanding from the 1904–1905 Welsh Revival and the 1906 Azusa Street Revival.
