About this holiday
Commemorates the crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, a chartered flight traveling from Montevideo to Santiago, Chile, that crashed in the Andes mountains on October 13, 1972. This event is known as both the Andes flight disaster and the Miracle of the Andes.
