Uganda, known as the 'Pearl of Africa,' is recognized for its diverse fauna, including highly endangered mountain gorillas and common chimpanzees.

Respect local religious customs and avoid criticizing religion.
Wear light trousers/skirts outside designated tourist areas.
Be aware of local safety and do not display expensive valuables.
Understand that religion is a vital part of the social structure.
As Uganda is a conservative Christian and Muslim society, modest dress is advised, particularly outside tourist areas. Handshakes are common greetings; men holding hands generally signifies friendship.

Uganda Martyrs' Day commemorates the execution of 22 Catholic and 23 Anglican converts in the Buganda Kingdom (now Uganda) between January 31, 1885, and January 27, 1887.
